These mandolins are designed as an alternative to the often used archtop design seen most of the time. These have flat tops, and are
not carved. They are meant to appeal to the Celtic and Folk musician, as Bluegrass musicians tend to want a more traditional mandolin
and this is meant as a departure from the bluegrass designs.
They are very playable, and quite loud. I've used tops made
of Redwood and Spruce and Cedar. Standard 13-7/8 scale is used with a carbon-fiber reinforced neck and bridge. These have a soundport
in the side as well.
