Some of the musicians who play my instruments - Andro, The Trace, Ralston Bowles, The Dixie Chicks, Brooks Williams, Dennis Palmer, Beki Hemingway and of course myself when I play with 13th Hour.
I'm born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where I have lived for 55 years. I'm a member of the Guild of American Luthiers, The American Federation of Musicians, and serve on the staff of the Musical Instrument Makers Forum. I have two dogs, support the Humane Society and encourage the adoption of any animal who might need you.

Just a quick word or two to introduce myself to those of you who may not already know me- nice to meet you and thanks for your interest in my instruments.
I've been building instruments for a living since the early nineties, I'd been making a living performing music since the mid seventies. In the eighties I got into instrument repair work also and from that came the fullfilment of my real desire, to build them. Since that time I've been on what I see as a lifelong journey toward learning more about the craft and about what makes the best instruments stand out from the crowd.
I've been quite lucky, because in this time period I have had the good fortune to learn from some of the very best in the field and did that in a time that is now being thought of as the new "golden age" of instrument building and luthierie. Luthiers today know more about the "how and why" of good tone than ever before. Our individuality as builders is shown by how each luthier chooses to apply what he or she knows and the originality and quality of their craftsmanship.
